Crowns & Fixed Bridges
All-Ceramic Crowns and Bridges
Restorative dentistry is designed to repair a damaged smile. We understand that though you care about the health of your smile, you care about appearance as well. At Rosenfeld Dental Studio, we use ceramic restorations to protect your teeth while preserving your white smile. Because there is no metal foundation, no grey ring appears as the gum recedes over time. Your crown or fixed bridge will continue looking natural, so you can continue to smile with confidence.
If you’re missing a tooth, Dr. Rosenfeld may recommend a fixed bridge. Gaps left by a missing tooth can allow adjacent teeth to shift and rotate, contribute to jawbone loss and additional tooth loss, and lead to malocclusion (a bad, or misaligned bite). This imbalance plays a role in the development of gum disease and TMJ dysfunction and can diminish your quality of life.
A fixed bridge, sometimes referred to as crown and bridgework, provides an attractive and healthy way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The important anchoring teeth are shaped to accommodate the bridge and impressions are taken and sent to a dental lab to fabricate the final prosthesis. In the meantime, a natural looking provisional bridge is attached so you never have to wear flimsy "flippers" or other less than ideal options to fill the space. By spanning the space where a tooth is missing, a fixed bridge stops the movement of your remaining teeth and completes your smile.
Unlike a removable prosthesis, such as a denture or partial denture, a crown and bridge is a permanent solution for a missing tooth. With good home care, including regular brushing, flossing, and routine checkups at our office, your fixed bridge could last a lifetime.
